Have inspectors enter a reading instead of picking a color, and let WashUp set the rating from the thresholds you choose.
On some items a color isn't the real answer—water pressure is 38 PSI or it isn't. Turn on numeric entry and the inspector types the reading, then WashUp picks the rating from the thresholds you set.
What you'll need
- Available on the Bundle plan, or on a Custom plan that includes Inspections.
- Only Admins and Super Admins can configure numeric items.
- An inspection with items on it.
Turn on numeric entry
To set up a numeric item:
- Open the inspection and select Edit List.
- On the item, select Advanced Options, then Show.
- Tick Require numeric value entry.
- Choose a Unit of measure.
- Under What's considered good?, pick Higher values are better or Lower values are better.
- Enter the Green (Pass) and Yellow (Needs Attention) thresholds.
- Select Save Changes.
Units include Count, Percentage, Score, Gallons, PSI, Temperature in °F or °C, pH, RPM, TDS, ppm, Inches, Feet, Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Pounds, Amps, Volts, and CFM. The one you pick shows beside the number box.
How the thresholds decide the rating
Say you pick PSI, Higher values are better, Green at 50 and Yellow at 30.

Pick Lower values are better and the comparisons flip. Good for defect counts, or a temperature you want to stay under.
You never set the Red threshold—the box reads Automatically calculated. A Live preview spells out all three rules as you type.
Set an acceptable range
Acceptable range (optional) caps what the inspector can type, with a Min value and a Max value, so nobody records 900 PSI by fat-fingering a zero. Leave it blank and any number goes.
- Thresholds must agree with the direction you picked and fall inside the acceptable range. Otherwise an Invalid Thresholds banner appears and Save Changes is blocked for the whole list, not just that item.
- The item's color buttons are replaced by a number box and a status chip. The inspector can't override the rating by hand.
- Leave either threshold blank and WashUp can't rate the reading, so the item keeps its previous status.
Common questions
Can I change the thresholds later?
Yes. Reopen Advanced Options and edit them at any time. Past runs keep the rating they were given.
Who can do this?
Only Admins and Super Admins. Team Members enter readings but can't configure them.
Does this affect my other locations?
No. The settings belong to that one item on that one inspection.
