Attention Item statuses explained

Attention Item statuses explained

Status, Progress, and Priority are three separate fields on every attention item. Here's what each value means and who can set it.

September 28, 2026

Every attention item carries three fields at once. They answer different questions, and none of them changes the others.

Status—how bad is it?

StatusWhat it meansWho can set it
CriticalNeeds attention right away. Came from a Red ratingAdmins and Super Admins
Needs AttentionNeeds attention soon. Came from a Yellow ratingAdmins and Super Admins
ResolvedThe issue was fixed and closed outAnyone, through Mark as Resolved

You can't pick Resolved from the Status dropdown. It's only set by resolving the item, which asks for a date and a note.

Progress—how far along is the work?

ProgressWhat it means
OpenNobody has started on it. This is where every item begins
In ProgressSomeone is working it now
On HoldWork is paused, usually waiting on a part or a vendor

Anyone at the location can change Progress. Once the item is resolved, Progress reads Closed and can't be changed.

Priority—what have you decided to do about it?

PriorityTypical use
UrgentDrop everything
HighNext up
NormalScheduled work
LowWhen there's time

Priority starts blank on every item and shows Select priority until somebody sets one. Anyone can set or clear it, using Remove Priority in the dropdown.

Good to know
  • Status and Progress are independent, so an item can be Critical and On Hold at once. That's the right combination when a bad problem is waiting on a part.
  • Nothing sets Priority for you, not even a Critical status. An urgent-looking list can still be entirely unprioritized.
  • Filtering All Attention Items by Progress or Priority hides older items that predate those fields. See Attention items missing after filtering.
