Why is my location deactivated?

Why is my location deactivated?

If a specific location within your WashUp account has been deactivated, this article walks you through the most common reasons and what to do next. Your company account and other locations are unaffected, and getting the location restored is a simple process.

May 18, 2026

If a specific location within your WashUp account is showing as deactivated, your overall company account is still active and all other locations are unaffected. Your data is safe and the location can be restored. Below are the most common reasons a location gets deactivated and exactly what to do next.

‍

Common reasons a location may be deactivated
‍

1. Your free trial ended without a payment method on file - WashUp offers a free trial to get you started. If your trial period ended before a payment method was added to your account, your location will be automatically deactivated until billing is set up.

‍

2. A payment was declined - If your card was declined when WashUp attempted to charge your subscription, your location may have been deactivated as a result. This can happen due to insufficient funds, a frozen card, or a bank-side block on the charge.

‍

3. Multiple payment retries failed - When a payment doesn't go through, WashUp automatically retries the charge over the following several days. If all retry attempts fail, your subscription will be cancelled and your location will be deactivated. Check your inbox — including your spam folder — for any payment failure notifications from WashUp during this time.

‍

4. Your credit card expired - Cards expire, and an outdated expiration date is one of the most common causes of a failed payment. Even if your card worked previously, a new card number or updated expiration date may be needed.

‍

5. A charge was disputed or reversed - If a payment to WashUp was disputed with your bank or reversed as a chargeback, your account may have been flagged and deactivated while the issue is reviewed.

‍

6. Your subscription was cancelled - If a billing super admin on your account cancelled your WashUp subscription, your location will be deactivated at the end of that billing period.

‍

7. Your subscription plan no longer covers this location - Some WashUp plans include a set number of active locations. If your plan was changed or downgraded and this location exceeded the plan's limit, it may have been deactivated as a result.

‍

8. The location was manually deactivated by WashUp - In rare cases, WashUp may deactivate a specific location due to an administrative or account-level concern. Our team will be able to explain the reason when you reach out.

‍

What to do next
‍

Regardless of the reason — or if you believe this was a mistake — the process to get your location reactivated is the same:

  1. Go back into the WashUp app and click Reactivate Location on the deactivation screen.
  2. Fill out the short form with your name, email address, phone number, and the name of the location. Include any helpful context in the optional message field — the more detail you provide, the faster our team can get things resolved.
  3. Click Send Message. A WashUp account manager will review your request and reach out to you directly via the contact information you provided to get everything resolved.

‍

Response times: We aim to respond to all reactivation requests within 24 business hours. Our team is available Monday through Friday, excluding major U.S. holidays. Requests submitted on weekends or holidays will be reviewed on the next business day.
Note: If you are not the Account Owner on your account, you may not see the Reactivate Location button. In that case, ask your company's Account Owner to submit the form on your behalf.
