Delete means different things in different parts of WashUp. A deleted user waits in a tab until you restore them. A deleted incident is gone the second you confirm. Here's every case in one place.
| What you remove | What happens | Getting it back |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | Archived, not deleted. It leaves your active list and comes off every inspection, service schedule, and task assignment | Unarchive it, but the connections it lost don't come back |
| An inspection-only item | Custom items that live on an inspection and not in a bay are deleted outright | No |
| A service | The service and every instance of it are stamped deleted, including the ones your team already completed | No |
| An older service | Deletes every row sharing that name, equipment, and location, in one go | No |
| An inspection | The inspection and its whole run history go with it. Reported issues survive and detach | No |
| An incident | Deleted for real, straight away | No |
| A wash bay or area | Permanently removes the bay's equipment, its full service history, and all connections | No |
| A task list | The list, its tasks, and their instances stop appearing anywhere in WashUp | Not from the app |
| A user | Soft-deleted. They lose access immediately and move to the Deleted Users tab | Yes, restore them there |
| A pending invitation | Cancelling revokes the link and removes the person from the system | No |
Standard equipment has no delete at all—archive is the only route, and it's reversible. But the archive modal's warning is the part people miss: Connections will be removed. The top brush comes off the inspections it belonged to and off its service schedules. The unarchive modal is the only place that says those don't come back:
Past service records, inspection logs, and history stay intact either way.
The delete modal only asks You are about to delete a service item. Would you like to proceed? What it doesn't say is that every instance of that service is stamped deleted too, completed ones included—so the record of the pump rebuild your team did last spring stops showing up. There's no archived-services view to pull it back from.
Deleting a user is a soft delete. They land in Settings > Users and Roles > Deleted Users with who deleted them and when, and Restore Account brings them back. Their email address stays claimed the whole time, so you can't set up a new account with it until you restore them.
If you cancel, WashUp keeps your data. Sign back up or reactivate later and everything is right where you left it. Want a copy? Contact us and we'll help with an export.
