Contact UsEvery location gets its own chat automatically, and its membership follows your location assignments. Here's who is in which conversation, and why.
A location chat is the one conversation you never have to set up. WashUp creates it for each location and keeps its membership in step with who works there.
| Kind | Membership | Changes when |
|---|---|---|
| Location chat | Everyone assigned to that location | Somebody is assigned or unassigned |
| Group chat | Whoever the creator added, plus anyone added later | A member adds or removes someone |
| Direct message | Exactly two people | Never |
Assign someone to a location and they join that location's chat. Take them off the location and they come out of it, along with the notification settings they had for that site. You don't add or remove anyone by hand, and there's no membership list to maintain.
Turn the Chat feature off for a location and everyone is removed from that location's conversation.
Someone added to a location chat can read what was said before they arrived. Treat a location chat as a permanent record the whole site can see, not a private aside.
These aren't tied to a location. Anyone at your company can start either one and reach anyone else, whichever sites they work at. Nothing about a group chat is restricted by role, so a Team Member can create one and add whoever they need.
A group chat's creator can add members, and members can leave. The one thing the creator can't do is remove themselves, so someone else has to take over the group first.
If a service company works on your equipment, their technicians and admins don't get Chat. The icon isn't shown to them, and they're not members of your location, group, or direct conversations, even while they're working inside your account.
