Service statuses and progress explained

Service statuses and progress explained

Status, Progress, and Priority are three separate fields on a service. The due date sets Status; you set the other two.

September 28, 2026

Every service carries three fields at once, and they answer different questions. Status is calculated for you. Progress and Priority are yours to set.

Status—where the due date puts it

StatusColorWhat it meansWhat to do next
Past DueRedThe due date has passedGet it done, or reschedule it
UpcomingYellowInside the reminder windowLine up the parts and the person
ScheduledGreenNot due yetNothing
CompletedGreenThe work was done and signed offNothing—it moves to your completion history

You can't pick a status. WashUp works it out from the due date and the reminder you set on the service, so a service with a 7-day reminder turns Upcoming a week out and Past Due the day after it's missed. The only way to reach Completed is to mark the service complete.

Progress—how far along the work is

ProgressWhat it means
OpenNobody has started. Every service begins here
In ProgressSomeone is on it now
On HoldPaused, usually waiting on a part or a vendor
ClosedWritten by WashUp when the service is completed

Anyone at the location can move a service between Open, In Progress, and On Hold. Closed isn't in the dropdown—completing the service is what writes it.

Priority—what you've decided to do about it

PriorityTypical use
UrgentDrop everything
HighNext up
NormalScheduled work
LowWhen there's time

Priority starts empty and reads Select priority until somebody sets one. Anyone can set or clear it, using Remove Priority at the bottom of the dropdown.

Statuses you might see on older services

Services used to work differently, and a few older rows still carry values the current screens can't produce. You'll see them, but they aren't in any dropdown or filter.

ValueWhere it showsWhat to do
SkippedAs a status on an old serviceTreat it as work that never happened
In ProgressAs a status, not as ProgressRead it as Progress instead
On HoldAs a status, not as ProgressRead it as Progress instead
Work Order CreatedAs a Progress badgeMove it to Open, In Progress, or On Hold

Rescheduling one of these older services converts it to the current setup, and the odd value goes away.

Good to know
  • Status and Progress are independent, so a service can be Past Due and On Hold at once—the right combination when an overdue job is waiting on a pump seal.
  • Completing a service sets Status to Completed and Progress to Closed. There's no progress value called Completed, and no status called Closed.
  • Filtering by Progress offers Open, In Progress, On Hold, and Closed only, so a row still carrying Work Order Created won't come back in a progress filter.
