Contact UsNotes work the same on attention items, services, equipment and tasks, with two exceptions worth knowing before you rely on them.
Four parts of WashUp let you leave a note: attention items, services, equipment and tasks. They look the same and mostly behave the same. The differences are in who can remove one, and whether it stays where you put it.
| Where | What the note is attached to |
|---|---|
| Attention Items | The issue, on its timeline |
| Services | One dated service, on its Timeline tab |
| Equipment | The item, in its history |
| Tasks | The task |
Every note records who wrote it and when, and most places let you attach photos or video alongside the text.
You can always edit and delete your own notes. Whether anyone else can depends on where the note is.
| Where | Who can remove a note |
|---|---|
| Attention Items | The author, or an Admin or Super Admin |
| Everywhere else | The author only |
That's the first thing to know. A note left on a service by someone who has since left the company can't be tidied up by an Admin—only attention items allow that.
This is the second thing, and it surprises people. A note added to a task that repeats is stored against the task itself, not against the day you added it. So a note written on Tuesday shows on Monday's occurrence, and on next week's.
If you need the note to belong to one day, put it in the task's completion notes instead, which are recorded against that completion.
Several places ask for notes at the moment work is finished—Completion Notes on a service, the notes an inspection requires on a new problem, and the notes a task can require before it will close.
Those aren't the same as a timeline note. They're part of the completion record, they can be made mandatory, and they don't appear in the ordinary notes thread.
