The pump was rebuilt on Tuesday and the seal kit is on order. Put that on the service itself, where the next person looks, rather than in a text message.
What you'll need
- The service has to exist already. Notes go on a scheduled service, not on the template.
- Anyone who can see the service can add a note.
Add a note
To add a note to a service:
- Select Service in the side menu, then the service.
- Select the Timeline tab.
- Select the note box and write what happened.
- Select Add photos or videos if you have any.
- Post the note.
It appears on the timeline straight away with your name and the time.
Read the timeline
Details holds the service itself—the equipment, the schedule, the instructions. Timeline holds everything that has happened to it: notes, photos, and the record of the work being completed.
Sort it with Newest first or Oldest first. Oldest first reads like a service log, which is what you want when you're working out how long a part actually lasted.
Edit or remove your own note
Select your note to change its text or remove a photo from it. You can only edit and delete notes you wrote yourself—there's no way to edit a colleague's note on a service.
Good to know- Completion Notes are a different thing. Those are the notes asked for at the moment you mark the service complete, and a service can require them before it will close.
- Deleting a service takes its timeline with it, notes and photos included.
- A note is attached to one dated service, not to the schedule. The next occurrence starts with an empty timeline.
Common questions
Can I undo this?
You can delete your own note at any time, and only your own. Nobody else can remove it for you.
Will my team be notified?
No. A note lands on the timeline silently, so tell whoever needs to know.
Do notes carry over to the next service?
No. Each dated service keeps its own timeline, which is what makes the history readable later.
