Contact UsUsually it's approved availability. The shift is blocked until an Admin overrides it, and the employee is told the moment that happens.
Four things stop a shift going on the grid: approved availability, time off already on that day, a shift published from another location, or a form that won't validate.
You'll see Cannot create shift during availability times, with the hours listed. Approved availability blocks shifts, which is the point of it.
If they've told you they can work it, select Click to override in the day's cell, then Override Unavailable Time > Override and Continue. Fill in the shift and confirm with Confirm and Create Shift.
The override covers that one date and leaves their recurring availability alone. The employee gets a notification about it, and that one can't be switched off.
Something is already there. A day with time off on it—approved or still pending—has no plus sign to add a shift to.
Deal with the request first under Schedule > Requests, then come back to the day.
It reads: this user's shift has already been created and published by another location within your organization. Switch to the location where they're scheduled and change it there, or ask the Admin who runs that site.
Three validations catch most of it. Shift Type is required. The end time has to be later than the start time on the day. And any break has to sit inside the shift's own hours, or you get Break must be within shift hours with the times in the message.
