Tasks — Major Feature Update

We just rolled out a major update to the Tasks feature in WashUp — focused on helping teams stay more organized, accountable, and consistent throughout the day.

This update introduces recurring task schedules, time-based task restrictions, inspection-linked tasks, cleaner task history, improved task aging controls, and much more.

Recurring Tasks Throughout The Day

Tasks can now automatically repeat throughout the day based on a custom start time, end time, and interval.

This makes it easy to create recurring operational routines like:

  • Vacuum checks every hour
  • Tunnel walkthroughs every 30 minutes
  • Restroom checks every 2 hours
  • Lot and trash checks throughout the day
  • Chemical and equipment walkthroughs

Instead of relying on memory or manual reminders, WashUp will now automatically generate those recurring tasks for your team throughout the day.

This helps operators create more consistent routines and ensures important operational checks are not being missed during busy shifts.

Restrict Tasks To Specific Time Frames

Tasks can now be restricted to specific completion windows so they can only be completed during the correct time of day.

This helps prevent:

  • Opening tasks being completed too early
  • Midday checklists being skipped
  • Closing tasks being completed before operations end
  • Teams rushing through operational routines

This feature is especially useful for opening, midday, and closing task lists where timing and accountability matter.

For example:

  • Opening checklists can only be completed during opening hours
  • Midday inspections can only be completed during peak operation hours
  • Closing routines can remain locked until the proper time of day

This helps ensure tasks are being completed when they are actually supposed to happen.

Attach Inspections Directly To Tasks

You can now attach a WashUp Inspection directly to a task.

Once attached, the task cannot be marked complete until the linked inspection is submitted.

This allows teams to turn routine operational tasks into fully documented inspections with photos, notes, and pass/fail tracking built directly into daily workflows.

Examples include:

  • Daily quality checks
  • Wet downs
  • Restroom inspections
  • Equipment walkthroughs
  • Monthly close-up inspections
  • Safety inspections

Inspection-linked tasks also support recurring schedules and time frames so inspections automatically appear on the correct days and frequencies for your operation.

For example:

  • A restroom inspection can appear every other day
  • A monthly close-up inspection can automatically appear once per month
  • A daily quality check can be required during specific operating hours

This creates stronger accountability while helping ensure important inspections are consistently being completed.

Improved Task Aging Controls

Task aging settings are now easier to manage and update.

Users can now clone or duplicate existing task lists and adjust whether task aging is enabled or disabled.

This gives operators more flexibility when deciding whether unfinished tasks should:

  • Carry over into the next day
    or
  • Be marked as missed and reset daily

This improvement makes it easier to adapt task workflows without needing to completely rebuild existing task lists.

Cleaner Task History & Tracking

Task history has also been redesigned to make it easier to:

  • View completion history
  • See who completed tasks
  • Review completion requirements
  • Navigate historical activity
  • Better track recurring operational routines

The updated layout provides a cleaner and more organized experience across both desktop and mobile devices.

Additional Improvements & Fixes

This update also includes a variety of additional improvements and usability enhancements throughout the Tasks feature, including:

  • Improved desktop and mobile task layouts
  • Major improvements to situational task lists
  • Improved task aging behavior
  • Better recurring task performance
  • Cleaner task organization and visibility
  • General usability improvements
  • Small bug fixes and performance enhancements

Built For Real-World Operations

These updates were designed to help car wash operators create smarter operational routines that improve accountability, consistency, and execution throughout the day.

Tasks now work around your operation instead of forcing your operation to work around static checklists.

As always, we’ll continue improving WashUp based on feedback from operators and teams using the platform every day.
